ASCEND Program Coordinator
Alyssa Garbien is dedicated to implementing programs and services to support and promote women faculty in STEM disciplines at the University of Tennessee. Some of her duties include: assisting the coordination of recruitment, hiring, retention and advancement of female faculty in STEM disciplines, providing web and social media presence, and serving as the initial contact for the program.
Garbien graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in May 2015. Her undergraduate experience focused on Development and Public Relations in non-profit organizations and public relations firms. She also has extensive experience in event planning from the Center for Literacy, Education, and Employment where she coordinated both teacher and administrator conferences, certifications, and trainings for the Tennessee Department of Education based in Nashville, Tennessee.
